Sorry about not posting last week.  I was kind of busy studying for my midterms.  Well all that hard work paid off, paid off since I made an 87 on it.

Status Report - Week of: June 22nd to 28th 2015

Accomplishments:

Hey everyone!

This week has been interesting to say the least.

1. The Discussion Case Week 1 ended on Monday.  In case I forgot to mention it last week it was over the article "Clouds, big data, and smart assets: Ten tech-enabled business trends to watch."                                                         
2. I finished my Lab 2 assignment called "Matching Training." The professor's main purpose of this assignment give us a chance to work with Excel to make a business spreadsheet.  He also wanted us to use PowerPoint to to prepare a short slide presentation from our findings that made in Excel.

Status Report - Week of: June 14th to 21st 2015

Accomplishments:

This week we have a week long discussion based case study.  Where all students must participate in and our grade is determined by the quality and quantity of our posts.  We pretty much have to make a small case study (one or two paragraphs), by choosing one of the questions in the article. Then comment on on other case studies that the other classmates have posted.  While doing this you're trying to keep the conversation between posts going.  I've posted my own small case study on Tuesday, and I've comment on others as well.  I've made about 6 comments, ranging from small sentences to about a paragraph.   I've tried my very best to keep the conversation going, even by asking simple questions of "What part of the article did you guys find interesting?"  But I noticed it's a tough crowd out there.

We also have our third individual case study due today.  I turned mine in yesterday, because with all I have to do today I just want to get it done and over with.  But with this case study I did something a little bit different.  I tried my very best to make it sound more professional versus something I would put in a blog.  I even asked a couple of my friends to help with the grammar.  Hey just because I was trained to be a teacher doesn't mean my grammer/ spelling is the best. I was trying to impress the teacher and try to get a good grade.  Who knows what my grade will be after this discussion case study.  That way just in case I have to better on everything else.  

Issues:

Thankfully Bill wasn't as big as the news made it out to be.  My Internet is still slow which has caused problems when watching TV.

In terms of issues pertaining to the class so far, you could say I have a couple.  I'm trying to figure out how I'm doing case studies but she has only graded one of them.  Then the only comment is "Good."  I'm not really complaining about getting a good comment.  I would just like something more detailed to know if I'm going on the right track.  Before this class I've never done a case study, so I kinda want to know If I'm doing it correctly.  Even if there is something I need to do better on with the next case study.

My next issue is with the discussion case study.  I'm nervous about it, because not a lot of people are commenting back to some of my replies.  In away it's just one of those things of, "Am I doing this correctly?"

I plan to finish my lab assignment on Monday.  Read chapters 5 and 6.  Then probably this weekend start studying chapters 1-6 for the Midterm on July 2nd.

GO AWAY BILL!!

I don't mind the rain, but it gets on my nerves when it rains for more than one day. The reason is simple, I don't like how it may affect my internet usage.  At my place we have almost everything wired up to the internet.  Causing everything, including my TV to go extremely slow or potentially crash.

This week with class, there is a week long discussion case study going on.  This means that I'm going to be on the computer reading the article, posting my thoughts/case study, and commenting on everyone else' opinions/case study.  Not to mention we also have an individual case study that is due on Friday as well.  So I'm really hoping either when I'm at work or at home that stuff I do with the Internet does not cause me too much grief.

So GO AWAY BILL! Pretty Please?!

But in all honesty, I do hope that everyone is safe out there.  I know I may seem I'm "venting" out my frustrations out on to this post. I do worry about the people who say they are safe but they aren't.  Now that I think about it, my trees and grass could use a good watering.  

Things can get pretty nasty and dangerous when there is a thunderstorm.  Just remember it doesn't have to be a hurricane to not be dangerous or at least worry about your surroundings.

Accomplishments:

I turned in Case Study 2 called Application of Smartphone Technology for Business Success  before it was due on Monday the 8th.   

I turned in the Lab Assignment before it was due on Wednesday.
 
Issues:

When I created the blog last week I was kind of nervous about it.  I just had a small issue about the first post that I made.  It was kind of tricky figuring out what to say about myself.

A Little Bit About Myself

Hi Everyone!

Since this is my first post on my new blog, I thought it would be best to introduce myself. 

My name is Lauren Zinn and I'm from Missouri City, Texas.

I was born 27 years ago in Arlington, Texas and grew up near Downtown Houston in River Oaks.  In 2011, I married my husband Chris after dating each other for 4 years.

I originally earned in my degree in History and Secondary Education from the University of St. Thomas back in 2011.  Unfortunately it was right at the time when schools were laying off teachers.  I was able to teach third grade for a year in Galveston.  I know it's not secondary education, but the school literally tricked me.  I didn't say anything, because at the time I kinda needed a job.  Then in the fall of 2012, I started working at an accounting company called Henry & Company as a tax preparer.  So I'm going to back to school to get my degree in the field I should have chosen back in 2007, Accounting.

All in all I would have to say that I'm kind of a nerd.  I enjoy going to different conventions ranging from Sci-fi, Anime, and even Historical like the Renaissance festival. I even cosplay at a few of them.  It all depends if I have the time to make something beforehand.  My friends would call me an Otaku or a Treky sometimes. I like to play video games on my computer, for example I'm looking forward to the MMORPG Blade & Soul game to come out.  I'm an animal person, which is why my house is a zoo with 6 animals.  I have a bunch hobbies for example photography, painting, sewing, cooking/baking and even gardening.  I'm addicted to Pinterest to get Ideas on what I should try next.  Even if it's just to look at pretty things.  

When it comes to computer skills, I think I'm fairly knowledgeable about using the computer.  I've been using the computer since elementary school.  I blame/thank my engineer dad for that.  I've been using Microsoft Office and Quickbooks since the 6th grade. Then in High School I started using Adobe Systems (including photoshop and lightroom) and Accounting software called CCH.  My mom owns an accounting firm and since Middle School till I went to College I worked at her office part-time.  I also have experience with using the Internet.
